Ever since I was a young child, drawing with burnt sticks from the fire, I have been interested in arts and crafts. I won first prize in a County painting competition when I was 11. Winning a big box of artists' materials really started me off.

This interest took me to York college of Art every Saturday from when I was 14, to full time when I was 16 when I studied art to advanced level.

My first medium was watercolour painting but later in life my interests spread to cover many other forms including crafts. Machine embroidery, pencil drawing, pen and wash drawing, jewellery making, knitting and weaving have been some of my ventures. Pet portraits have been a specialty.

When I retired and my children moved away I came to Wales from East Yorkshire to benefit from the scenery, wildlife and culture in this beautiful part of the world.
