Hilary is a a Painter, Illustrator and Graphic Designer. Having trained for four years at Cambridge Art School with a focus on Illustration and graphic design she began a career in publishing mainly working in the field of design but also participating in a successful Cambridge Open Studio and working in a studio space run by St Barnabas Press.
Having spent many years working as a freelance designer she made a decision to relocate to Wales and now spends much of her time working as a painter and Illustrator. Her studio is in Llanbrynmair which is shared with two other local artist/makers. She creates vibrant images and textures using paint, ink and a wide variety of mixed media including found materials and uses techniques such as collage and hand printing.
Hilary has a particular interest in the emotional impact that simple marks and colour can have and takes inspiration from the natural world, fleeting moments, glimpses of movement and light. She likes to combine abstract with realism to create striking and memorable work.
Hilary is a member of the Powys Arts Forum, her studio participates in Powys Arts Month, and has shown work in the Wyeside Gallery Builth Wells, the Fulham Palace Arts Fair, the MOMA Wales summer exhibition and Mid Wales Arts Centre.
