The Dyfi Arts Guild Constitution
Members:
- Will pay all membership fees in advance either annually or monthly by standing order.
- Will initially commit to a minimum of 12 months membership.
- Will provide a minimum of 3 months notice to terminate their membership.
- Will only display original handmade work of a high standard in The Gallery.
- Will retain all ownership and copyright on all material provided.
- Will provide to the Guild a small profile and photograph for display purposes.
- Will be responsible for maintaining their allocated display area to a satisfactory level.
- Will ensure all material provided to The Gallery is priced and labeled according to The Guild requirements.
- Will be responsible for taking out additional insurance if the standard cover is not sufficient for their work.
- Will fulfill, where required, their obligation to provide stewarding cover.
- Will fairly represent all members interests in securing sales of material.
- Will take all reasonable care in protecting The Gallery property and members material from damage or theft when in attendance at The Gallery.
- Will maintain all records of sales for The Guild to the necessary standard.
- Will be eligible to volunteer for a variety of roles on the Guild Management Team.
- Will submit any suggestions, complaints or comments to the secretary for discussion at a General meeting.
The Guild:
- Will treat all members equally and fairly.
- Will allocate membership places and display areas in The Gallery on a first come first served basis.
- Will provide a suitable display area for members work which will be, where possible, in the location of the member's choice subject to availability.
- Will, where possible, open The Gallery to the public 6 days a week (excluding Thursdays) from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
- Will take all reasonable care to ensure that members work held at The Gallery is protected from damage or theft.
- Will provide public liability and contents insurance to a maximum value of £100 per item and a total of £1,000 per member. (note: there is a £250 excess on any claim)
- Will calculate and pay all earnings due from the sale of work on a monthly basis.
- Will provide 3 months notice if terminating a membership.
- Will hold an Annual General Meeting for all members, and at this meeting will present statistics on the performance of The Gallery and accounts for the year.
- Will hold General Meetings each quarter for all members, at which members will be able to submit topics for discussion.
- Will pay over any share of the profits from sales commission due to Stewards on an annual basis.
- Will consider all requests, complaints and suggestions from members for the improvement of The Guild, the services it provides, and the benefit of its members.
- Amendments to this constitution and other decisions to be approved by simple majority vote of members present at a General meeting, provided that a quorum of 20% of members are present.
- Dissolution of The Guild will require a majority decision of members at a quorate meeting. Any monies remaining after all commitments are met shall be donated to a charity approved at that meeting.
